The South Beach (Art Deco District) has some very attractive hotels. However, so of them are not so Art Deco internally? They are almost on the beach (south).

I do not know the prices, but there are plenty of on-line hotel/travel sites to search these days!

Why not book on-line, too?

Anyone have any comments on the hotel within/right at Miami Intl. Airport?

Realize it could be noisy but is it as convenient as it sounds for an overnight and an early departure?

Any other suggestions welcome. Tks.

resort.the airlines flight attendants were threatening to
strike. ncl put me there free
of charge for 2 nights.
the resort is right on the ocean.this place is around $160
a night.
check days inn on the ocean. i believe they have a free shuttle
from the airport to the cruise
terminal.
the hotel at miami int. airport
is nice but a last resort. it is
a few miles from the beach.
i hope you have a nice trip on
the ss norway. i have sailed on
her 4 times and was never disapointed.

I would not stay at the hotel at the Miami airport. We took a day room there once when we had a late flight home, and the noise was terrible. Try for something closer to the beach.

My last trip out of Miami we stayed at Intercontinental Miami (Overlooking Harbor):

http://miami.intercontinental.com/

Very easy walk to numerous shops and dining options located at Bayside Marketplace, the hotel is a 4 star property with rates in the $119-$139 range. The views of Dodge Island will make any "boatie" jump for joy. Nice pool area too (no beach).

I have some photos in my NCL Sea review: http://www.viva-vegas.com/cruise2002

Enjoy!

There are several nice hotels on Miami Beach in the popular South Beach area that are nearly new, such as the huge Loews Hotel on Collins Avenue, or the new Miami Beach Marriott on Ocean Drive. A bit further north on Collins in the North Beach area is the famous Fontainebleau Hilton Resort and next door is the Renaissance Eden Roc, both big and very nice.

In downtown Miami there is the Hyatt, the Intercontinental, or just a few blocks south in the Brickell financial and condo tower area you can find the new J.W. Marriott, the new Mandarin Oriental or the older Sheraton, all three overlooking downtown and Biscayne Bay. Just a few minutes drive further south in popular Coconut Grove is the new Ritz-Carlton. Just a few blocks north of downtown is the Biscayne Bay Marriott and the Renaissance Biscayne Bay Hotel, both also overlook downtown and the port of Miami.

Close to Miami Int'l. Airport, in the city of Coral Gables, is the Hyatt Regency or the Omni Colonnade. Across from the airport is the Windham Hotel, the Hilton, the Sofitel and the Miami Airport Marriot Hotel complex that also includes a Fairfield Inn by Marriott and a Courtyard by Marriott. I believe the airport area hotels all have free airport shuttle service.

West of the airport is the famous Doral Golf Resort and Spa located just across from the Carnival headquarters.

None of these hotels I have mentioned are more than a 20 minute or so drive to the Port of Miami.

I hope this information is of some help and I hope you enjoy your time spent here. Welcome to sunny Miami!

We stayed at the Best Western directly across the street from the Bay Side Market Place. An OK hotel that is within spitting distance to the Port of Miami.

The Best Western that cncservo mentioned above is on Biscayne Blvd. and just across the street from Bayside Marketplace. It has recently been changed to a Holiday Inn. I'm not sure if any upgrades were made, but it was pretty nice when it was a Best Western. It is the closest hotel to the Port of Miami.
