How I see it is that there have been plenty of postings on other cruise boards about the Glory getting back to Pt Canaveral late on disembarkation (sometimes as late as docking at 2pm) and Carnival is fed up with the delays in having to make arrangements for disembarking passengers and non-standard port times in Pt Canaveral. Additionally, from what I understand, the reason they are late getting back to home port is because sometimes due to the nature of where the pier is in Progresso, the ship cannot depart on time due to winds, tides, etc.....
It's too bad because I've read nothing but positive things about that port....a real taste of how Mexico really is in culture and people. Plus I've heard they have Corona's for $ 1 each...an added bonus.
So now they will only be going to Key West for a few hours, Belize, and Cozumel...with an extra sea day on the way back..... I think this move may hurt them with "port minded" cruisers.
I think they would be better to keep Progresso as their first stop and get rid of Key West entirely...but who am I to say....
