The Arizona Memorial is well worth the visit. Because of the lines, and I am told there are always lines, you might save money by taking the scheduled shore excursion there, as you get integrated into the waiting system as a group. There is nothing but urban geography between the pier and Pearl Harbor so you do not miss "sights." I make this observation based on my HAL/Statendam visit last year.

But if you wish to visit some of Oahu' s spectactular geography, and Diamond Head is such, a car and driver is the way to go. "The Pali" (the spectacular "backbone" of the island) is another destination that can be worked out by car. But traffic is bad throughout, and a car stuck in traffic is a pretty white-knuckled experience if you are close to missing the ship.

QM2 will sail from Los Angles on February 25 2006 on an 11 day round-trip cruise to Hawaii. She will call at Hawian ports on March 1, 2 and 3. After returning to Los Angeles on March 8, QM2 will return to New York by rounding South America. She will not return to the Pacific before 2007.

QM2's schedule up to January 6, 2007 can be found on Cunard's web site at
HERE .Click on "Voyage Planner" to get to schedules.

We went to Hawaii(cruise of course) a few years ago and the traffic is very heavy with parking difficult. If your doing a pre/post cruise package we took the bus to Pearl and to a big Mall in Honolulu. It was relatively cheap(bus). Prices better than Wakakai hotel area.
The Navy runs the only launches that visit the Memorial .The US park service has a pavilion(you see a movie about the attack)and yes you need to wait your turn to go out on the launches. Oil is still coming up from the ship.
You will see a lot of Japanese tourists that dominate the islands, but oddly enough not many seen at the memorial. I wonder why?
The Polyensia Cultural Center is also a good excursion.

If they do not mind flying to Hawaii:

NCL's 'Pride of America' will be making her 7 Night cruises, on a weekly basis all year, around the islands ( June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, 2006). They could 'cruise & stay' if they wanted longer.

We now know that the Pride's interiors are something rather special.

I cant wait to see the QM2 over in LA (San Pedro). I live close to the Queen Mary which means the main LA terminal isnt that far away. Im going to make a banner and show it up to all the people on the decks of that enourmus liner. To tell the truth I am not all that sure how she can fit into that terminal But Im sure she will somehow. I cant wait to film and watch her go out to sea. How much fun will that be? It will probably real crowded though. I hope it wont get too busy. But the news will probably be there. And with me having the banner who knows, I just might be on the news. Most likely the local news. But anyone who lives close by like myself you should see if Im there.
Well it will sure be fun. Hope to see . . . one of you there

I cant wait to see the QM2 in LA (San Pedro). I live near by and go to the LA terminal a lot when a ship is there. This will be a big event though. I hope its not too crowded.
Im not sure how exactly they are going to fit the huge QM2 into that rather small dock Well I guess its bigger than I think.
I also cant wait to see that big liner dock out. Im gona film her sailing out of that harbour. It will be so cool. I cant wait. Im also going to have a banner. So the people on the decks will see GO QM2 from below. Is anyone else going just to see the ship? It will be cool to see a fellow cruiser!!!
