Thomson Spirit (ex Hal Nieuw Amsterdam 1983) is doing a one-nighter from Harwich to Southampton on 16th September 2007.

The price is £49 pp, inc taxes, no tips required - but for a supplement of £49 pp you can have a top suite. You can even put three people in a suite with a £35 discount. You can book online:

But how much does it cost to get back to Harwich from Southampton?

By train it's £45 ( or £72 in first class) and takes about 4 hours)

There's always a catch! Thomson are running a coach, but I do not know the price.

National Express are normally a cheap option, but do not run a direct service between these two ports.

Luggage would not be a big issue!

apparantly free coach from stansted to ship, can get coach from soton to stansted - £26 single
a bit convoluted for one night though and still not very cheap!

Sorry Malcolm, they would have to pay me to go on a trip like that with all the hassle involved in getting to & from the ports! Eric

I must admit that I would not personally cruise for less than three nights and I find that too sort, but many do.

I've done 1-nighters before and they are not worth it. The hassle factor of getting on and off the ship in a 24 hour period (especially these days) makes the prospect unattractive.

Last time I did a 1-nighter we boarded around 3pm and were off the ship the next morning by 9am...

18 hours.

Never again. Not worth it.

How about MSC Musica for 11 nights, flights fron london included, on the 7th of January (very short notice) £399pp inside, £499 balcony or £499 single? Sounds like a bargain to me.
