The basic problems for EC I don't see being resolved, namely:
Inability top build new tonnage as it is too expensive.
Severe lack of older tonnage available at a price they can afford.
Cruising is whatever we all know still perceived as being a "luxury" experience thus they have to spend more on marketing to get the message across.
They are more exposed to increases in costs than the big players.
Lack of infrastructure and ability to generate on board sales.
Basically I think we see Easy Cruise in its final format as stands. A single youth hostel at sea.
as for a lack of tonnage, I don't agree with that. At least two of the current "easyCruise Life's" sister ships are currently in layup (one even in Greece) and are waiting for buyers.
Best,
Raoul

I know the on board services are minimal, but so are the fares. As Mile said, the onboard revenue generation was not particularly well developed on the first ship, but I believe they have improved it. Never the less, youth hostels much be cheaper to run than ships?

Maybe there are tax benefits for running it at a loss
As an example, here in the States I never could fiqure out how US Airways stayed in business. It seems like it was always in the red-even during the go-go 1990s yet it survives (sort of) and was bought by America West Airlines a few years ago. I guess it is all clever accounting tricks

There has been talk by Stelios of ' easyCruise ' selling their first ship, ' easyCruise One' , and then purchasing another cruise ship about the same size as ' easyCruise Life '.
No doubt a ship the size of ' easyCruise Life ', which carries 600 passengers, is more profitable to operate than ' easyCruise One ' which only carries 210 passengers.

Travel Dynamics have a new ship listed as Clelia ll which is due to start cruising for them in 2009 after a re-fit.
Her tonnage is given as 4,077 grt Length 290 feet and beam 50 ft.She is flying the Maltese flag and will carry only 100 guests.
The ship details are much the same as for easyCruiseOne !
