These are almost Louis' prices (12 days Orient Queen)(or a week in Oceanic) while QV is certainly far more luxurious and still in her inaugural season.
somehow I feel this does not bode well...
It is the middle market, the premium lines which i think will feel the crunch much more, than the cheaper lines.
I don't know about the upper lines, with Big Old Wall Street Banks going bust in a few days, lots of old and new money will getting nervous.

Was it on this board or another where there was a discussion about some NCL cruise (maybe this cruise) being sold for $9 PP?
They are not that bad - they just need to sort the product out once and for all. And if the issue is still Norway please get over it already, we have all traded in second hand cars - they probably sold on for scrap to, her time was OVER, RIP.
No comment was made about Norway !!! Unless I am going blind !!
I shaved with her this morning and the blade was really rusty and covered in mildew !!
I did think it might have come from the Madagascar !
( What happened to her in the finish ? )
As you have said , in another thread, it is about time Apollo did something about the NCL board of directors !
To sell cruises at this price they must be desperate to fill the ship.
I expect they are hoping to cream off the Regal Empress business, now she is no longer cruising.
When the new ship for Imperial Majesty Cruise Lines enters service NCL may find they have come unstuck again if they are still running on this route.
Booo.
Let's face it folks, NCL is a failed business model and will be sold off by Apollo before the end of 2009. They are just trying to raise short term cash quckly.

Maybe, but then they'll expect to do body searches to ensure you don't smuggle soda or food aboard!
The economy will recover, building new ships will hurt for the time being. But things will pass, and in the end, the industry will grow again. It might even surge because of pent-up demand be released later.
It starts to look like this is the point when we will see lines shut-down, merge, or otherwise start to show signs of real stress. But on the whole, I would think the industry comes through basically intact. And if that proves the case, it is an exceptionally good sign. It means even dire financial chaos wasn't able to kill it, or meaningfully stunt it. So the current level of strength will be validated as a firm foundation.

Very well said, and I agree with you 100%. I don't think there will be much more consolidation in the industry as pretty much everything has already been consolidated (at least where major lines are concerned). I also think the industry as a whole is resilient enough to get through this, just as they did with 9/11. Sure some uneasy measures might have to be taken like lay up ships or even shut down unprofitable brands, but overall I think the major players will survive. If they don't, then I think we will all have a lot more to worry about then cruise lines.
