Royal & Regal ! A little predictable perhaps. I am told very little new or exciting, just the predictable but bigger with an 1 or possibly 2 extra pay for restaurant.

For those total ship nuts coded RP and TP.

On a very recent cruise, the Captain announced that they were 3600 passengers, and a totally new design. Could all be from the spin doctor, as this guy was dull and generally noncommunicative. Other names mentioned were Fair and Sky; perhaps to humour the over 400 ex Sitmar passengers aboard!! I hope not just a larger, more crowded Grand version-there is simply not enough room for passengers on deck!!

As in "Mooning" and "End of Day". Lets hope her back end in prettier than the existing Grands.

I'd like to see Carnival Dream's good-looking stern attached to these ships.

Good names, but awfully predictable. I guess ROYAL PRINCESS will be the first name Princess has used for three different ships.

Why TP for REGAL though? There is no T in it?

The opposite of dawn isn't evening, it's dusk. Evening is the opposite of morning.

They've already got one of those.

I'd like to see another SKY PRINCESS though. Perhaps the inevitable third ship in this new class.

Royal Princess is one of the best names the line could have chosen. Since the original RP in 1984, the name should have been preserved for the flagship of the Princess fleet. I always felt it was a mistake to name the former R-ship Royal Princess.

Still, I only hope the new RP will live up to the name with an innovative and inspiring design. Perhaps even an updated version of the original Royal's beautiful funnel rather than the ugly Princess funnels of late? I'm not holding my breath.

Carnival Corp. has just firmed up the order for these two ships, to be 141,000 tons each. CCL has admitted that the vessels will be evolutionary, not revolutionary, with some minor changes and enhancements to the status quo.

All outside cabins will have balconies on the new ships, so I'm guessing those few traditional rooms down on Plaza Deck will either become "Cove" balconies or else be eliminated in favor of public rooms.

hmmm 141,000gt is a lot larger than the 109-115k gt of the grand class ships. I wonder if they are both longer as well as adding more decks.

Maybe they will have 'Epic' style 'carbuncles' on top?

This is what I feared...a substantially larger ship that is an "evolution" of the Grand-class design. That means taller, more boxy, additional structures fore, aft, and on top...heaven knows what these monsters will look like.

This photo was posted by RickEk on another cruise board. He took the photo while in the Princess office this week. The rendering had balloons and such around it located in the lobby.

Overall it looks great, far better than the Grand Class.

The funnel reminds me of OASIS, and the stern more in line with CORAL/ISLAND PRINCESS, and the forward section similar to the Solstice Class. There is a duck tail like the Solstice Class as well. I wonder if the propulsion will be traditional or Azipods?

I see there are the larger lifeboats taking up only a single deck height, very much like the Solstice Class. This means there will not be the traditional promenade deck. Also no shopping cart handle.

"At an estimated 141,000 tons, the as-yet-unnamed ships will be the largest in the Princess Cruises fleet.

The ships' design will be evolutionary, in keeping with the themes of the line's newest vessels, but with some new features and innovations. For example, all outside cabins will feature balconies, bringing the percentage of balconies on the ships to 80 percent of all staterooms."

I guess they meant evolutionary in their features, not in their appearance. I think this is a very nice new design.

I like the revised 'Sea Witch' logo on the funnel facing forward.
