THANKS Altcruiser! This from another thread earlier this year after Reba was named Godmother for Norwegian Epic:

Some more odd, unknown, or interesting choices for Godmothers of cruise ships:

The Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, christened Holland America's Zaandam in 2000

Louise Calder -Freedom of the Seas - provided foster care for over 400 children with special needs.

Dr. Sally Ride, the first female to have orbited the globe, christened Carnival Glory

United States Senator Daniel K. Inouye christened NCL's Pride of Hawaii

Melanie Trump (Donalds wife) did the Norwegian Jewel

Cindy Cardella, NCL's new ''It'' Girl christened Norwegian Gem

Norwegian Pearl - 27 october 2006 Godmother Rosie O'Donnell

Mylene Klass, ex Hear Say member and television presenter christened Carnival Splendor

Sex in the City star Kim Cattrall christened Norwegian Dawn

Tennis great Chris Everet christened the Volendam

Myleene Klass, classical musician, singer and presenter did the Carnival Spendor

Voyager of the Seas - Katarina Witt, Olympic Gold Medal winning German figure skater.

Navigator of the Seas - Steffi Graf, former World No. 1 female tennis player from Germany.

Mariner of the Seas - Jean Driscoll, American wheelchair racer. She won the women's wheelchair division of the Boston Marathon eight times

Explorer of the Seas - Jackie Joyner-Kersee, ranked among the all-time greatest athletes in the women's heptathlon

Adventure of the Seas - Godparents:
Tara Stackpole - FDNY
Kevin Hannafin - FDNY
Margaret McDonnell-NYPD
Sgt. Richard Lucas - NYPD

Liberty of the Seas - Donnalea Madeley, an Ontario-based travel agent whose business contributed significantly to the success of RCI and of the cruise industry in general. She was the first travel agent to be selected as godmother.,

Elizabeth Hill from Chesterfield in Derbyshire was godmother of Independence of the Seas. Selected for her work with children and young people. Hill set up a charity, the Gamelea Countryside Training Trust, based on a farm which helps young people with physical or learning disabilities and those who have failed in school and are in danger of social exclusion. This was the first time a cruise line has bestowed the honor of godmother on a public British citizen.

Brilliance of the Seas - Marilyn Ofer, member of Royal Caribbean's Board of Directors, serves on the executive committee of the British Friends of the Art Museums of Israel as well as the Holocaust Educational Trust. She was a founding member of the New York chapter of WIZO, Women's International Zionist Organization, which supports health and education initiatives in Israel.

Radiance of the Seas - Margot Pritzker, member of the Asian Art Committee at the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Women's Board of Trustees at Northwestern University, as well as Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School.

Jewel of the Seas - Kathy Mellor, National Teacher of the Year for 2004

Serenade of the Seas - Whoopi Goldberg

Celebrity Solstice - Marine biologist Professor Sharon Smith

Three of my favorites were from 1984, 1989, 1990, and 1991, all with Princess Cruises.

ROYAL PRINCESS - Princess Diana
STAR PRINCESS - Audrey Hepburn
CROWN PRINCESS - Sophia Loren
REGAL PRINCESS - Margaret Thatcher

Princess was on a roll with some pretty impressive Godmothers. It all went downhill from there! LOL

I believe Sophia Loren must hold the record in christened ships having done a few with MSC as well?

I think you're right. Back when she christened CROWN PRINCESS it was a big deal. Sophia Loren is like Italian royalty, and CROWN PRINCESS was the largest passenger ship ever registered in Italy and had a majority of Italian crew. It's a christening I will always remember.

These days, besides Cunard, I think Costa has some of the most elaborate christenings. The dual christening of COSTA LUMINOSA and COSTA PACIFICA in Naples looked especially impressive.

She is one of the few actresses left on the planet held in such respected and high regard.

I thought the dual christening was in Genoa? I remember seeing pictures of a triangular shaped pier and Naples has instead a rectangular one with the large terminal building.

This picture of Princess Fiona will remind us that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Much the same attitude as one must take to the ship herself.

Pixar must be thrilled...money exchanged somewhere. Having a digital cartoon character sound more like Disney, but this is a joke for RCI and I'm sure someone was at the whiskey when they had to make the choice...shame that a more important person wasn't chosen...sorry, but this is proof that RCI is going downhill for me...Jeff

Really, the person that christens a ship has that much impact for you? You really think it's in indication that a cruise line is going downhill? Personally I think it's inconsequential in the big scheme of things. It has absolutely no bearing on what cruise line I choose or the enjoyment of my vacation. Most people can't even remember the name of the ship they are on, let alone who christened it.

I'm kind of dissapionted! I was thinking it would be Oprah or even Ellen. Not that I am a huge Oprah or Ellen fan- don't get me wrong I like them but I really don't watch them regularly. If it was my pick I would wan't Judge Judy but thats just me! She probably would scold everyone at the christing event!

Of course this ties in with their Dreamworks connection so I guess its best for RCI.
