No Surprise. It should be interesting to see what they do with the platform though.

Does anyone know the plans for the Costa Romantica yet?

The ship has 5 months drydock on the books this fall, and the rumor was that she would be stretched and get a deck of balconies, ala the Classica refit that never happened.

Would have been interesting to see Costa Classica stretched into a 78,000gt ship.

thad,

thanks for digging up that drawing from Deltamarin, good stuff!

Your wish might come true in fact, only it will be CLASSICA's sister. The COSTA ROMANTICA is scheduled for a lengthy refit from 28/10/'11 till 20/2/'12. I believe a stretch is part of this refit, but this still needs to be confirmed.

As I understand, Carnival can not order more DREAM-class clones, as the DREAM-class does not comply with the new SOLAS Safe Return to Port regulations. Therefore, I would expect Costa to receive another ROYAL PRINCESS clone. By the way, the Seatrade article says that P&O is receiving a new class of ship, while it is actually also a ROYAL PRINCESS clone with some small modifications.

What do these regulations state? Are they available for online viewing?
