Interesting article Ken,

I think you might be right about the FORMOSA QUEEN being the former SONG OF NORWAY / OCEAN PEARL
We already knew about the ORIENTAL DRAGON coming to Taiwan, but now you might also be getting the OCEAN DREAM (ex-SPIRIT OF LONDON) now! Looks like Taiwan will soon be a 70's cruise ship museum ;-)

Very interesting link to the use of some of the older cruise ships.

It is a pity they did not also decide to operate ss Oceanic on these short cruises.

Hi there,

FORMOSA QUEEN is the former OCEAN PEARL, SONG OF NORWAY.
Bureau Veritas already changed the name in the register.

I wish her well. Cruiseships around Taiwan do tend to get in trouble: sinking (ROYAL PACIFIC, 1992), burning and sinking (the next ROYAL PACIFIC, 2005) or getting arrested and abandoned in port (CHINA SEA DISCOVERY, also in 2005).

I think that the Royal Pacific that sank in 1992 (The former Empress of Australia.) was sailing out of Singapore during the time of her loss.

It seems that the swimming pool is removed and replaced with a nightclub with a glass dome.
