Around this time last year, P&O Australia announced a new livery, with a deep blue, tapered stripe running from the bow and a stripe running aft with "like no place on earth" on the stern.

They also released images of the new ex-HAL sisters in a reversed livery - presumably to save repaint.

In December 2014, Pacific Dawn come out of refit with the new livery - but by February 2015, it had been revised to cut the stripe off before it reached the bow.

Then, the stripes disappear all together - leaving the fleet in just plain white with P&O written almost on the front of the superstructure, the forward beam, the funnel, etc.

The HAL sisters have joined the fleet in HAL basic livery, with P&O logo almost everywhere. TWO on the front superstructure!

So, what's happening with it? I think the plain white livery is incredibly boring and looks cheap.

Today they've had their "Five ship spectacular" - and it looks a bit odd - three are plain white and two are blue!

I thought it was strange that they were keeping the Eden and Aria with their dark hulls. It seems they've never found a good livery for their ships. It's constantly changing. It used to be there wasn't a P&O logo anywhere at all.. Now they're everywhere! They should find something that works for them and stick to it.

I actually prefer the all white, looks clean and classy. Just hope they don't get any bright ideas and paint the Australian flag on their bows. Eden and Aria for me looks a bit tacky considering its HAL's livery, they could have atleast gone all white then we would have some balance in the fleet. As it stands looks like a rush job to get them into the fleet.

Seeing the dark coloured hulls on these latest P & O Australian Cruises ships reminds me of the black hulled P & O passenger ships which brought loads of emigrants to Australia, from Europe, in the 1950's and 1960's !

With these two ex ' HAL Cruises ' ships dating back to 1993 and 1994 when is P & O Australia going to get some newer cruise ships ?

Even some of the old P & O Cruises staff now living in Australia prefer to cruise on the newer and larger RCL Cruises ships now operating out of Australia !

Australia has always been a dumping ground for the old P & O passenger ships and next they are going to get an old Princess Cruises ship !

Australians should protest and book with other companies as now the oldest P & O Cruises ship in Australian waters is the 1989 built ' Pacific Pearl ' which is 26 years old and from reports from friends, who had a recent cruise on her, is starting to have a lot of leaking pipes and other problems !

The P&O Australia ships are all still very nice with good sized cabins and with teak decking on most outside decks.

I tend to agree, Aussie1.

It depends what you like - for me, the UK fleet are losing their appeal. I don't like massive ships and I don't like lots of gimmicks on board. When Aurora and Oceana leave the fleet, that will be it for me.

Wrap around decks, teak decking, more space, outside space, looking like a ship - all dying traits

I'm glad they're getting Explorer - I think the Sun class are great ships (albeit with small cabins).

The effort that they don't put onto the outside goes into the inside and they always do really thorough refits which mask the ships age -which is more than you can say for the UK fleet. The new Thomson fleet with Splendour of the Seas and the ex-Celebrity ships are looking more and more attractive.
