If I understand your question correctly, it seems as though the shipbuilding industry has moved to a philosophy where deck lengths have increased dramatically to, I guess, maximize the number of cabins and public rooms built into the ships. The result is unfortuntely less than aesthetically pleasing, because in doing so, bow areas are significantly shorter and the streamlined elongation that was the hallmark of the liner has disappeared, as has the open area of deck at the stern of the ship, commonly referred to as the fantail. As you'll notice, most modern cruise ships have a more or less "chopped off" appearance at the stern, one of the aspects I find most unattractive of these vessels.
I hope this answers your question to some extent.

I found the following web site: http://www.maritimereplicas.com
They build replica model of cruise ships. These replicas are ordered by cruise line so that they can ship it their most favorable travel agent or travel agency. Although these replicas are pricy, I would mind owning one. Check it out, I'm sure you and any all you ship lovers will like this web site too.
