Patrick is cruising and will be back in two weeks so the trivia europe continue just to busy us for few hours.
Here's the new question and the next one will be for Robygen or Barryboat or anybody else.
We are going to stay with Black Sea Shipping Company.
As we can see many ships of that company are sailling under different flags. Four in fact.
Among these flags, two are wrong, which ones?
-Ukraine
-Lithuania
-Bahamas
-Malta
-Cyprus
-Russia

Hello Vaccaro and everybody!
The flag changes of those ships are too frequent and it's easy for everyone to do a great confusion!
Anyway I'm trying to give an answer with the hope to be the right one.
In my opinion the two wrong flags are:
Russia and Lithuania.
Perhaps...!
Bye!
Robygen.

Hey Barryboat and everyone:
we are waiting your replies! Try!!!
Try before Vaccaro's solution!

Malta & Cyprus? I don't know much about Black sea ships - very confusing - too many changes. I enjoy this European trivia cause I can learn more about those ships on the other side of the Atlantic.

It's true that flag changes in this company are very frequent and today's flags won't be necessary tomorrow's ones!
Congratulations for...who?
I'll tell you next week!
Okay' okay ...Congratulations for Robygen!
The right answer is Lithuania and Russia.
Now guys, the next question is for you!
Bye.

I have a thought provoking question for you ship nuts out there ( I'm a ship nut too ). Who can say what which ships were the first to be built with a "Bulbous bow". It's a tough one and you'll have to do some research. I'll give you a clue, it's pre- Normandie.

Hello everybody!
I'm enjoy we're more of two persons to take part in this trivia!
The more we are, the better is.
BREMEN and EUROPA (1929) had a bulbous bow before "our" (escuse me, i'm french) NORMANDIE (1935) even if the hull of NORMANDIE was more evolved. Thank's to the russian of origin ingineer Yourkevich!
Bye.

Hello to everybody!
I must tell you that I don't really know the right answer to Barryboat's trivia.
I have no material regarding to technical
features of cruise ships and liners.
Now I should put the new trivia but I think it's better to change again the structure of this topic.
In fact ( I extend the question to Joe )wouldn't it be better if each of us begins
a new topic with different names?
For example I suggest "Cruise trivia from Italy","Cruise trivia from France","Cruise trivia from Luxembourg" and "Cruise trivia from USA". In this way everybody who wants to begin his new own trivia must not wait for the solution by the author of the previous one.
And everybody could solve different trivias at the same time!!!
Let me know something about my idea.
My new trivia is ready for you!!!
Bye.
Robygen

ROBYGEN,

I agree with you. I encourage you to create a new topic for each question. That will make it easier for more people to participate - they will know the subject from the topic. For example, you could even create a topic "Cruise Trivia - First liner with a Bulbous Bow?".

This is a great forum, keep up the good work.

Nice try Vaccaro - but not correct In my research, I found that the first liners to sport a bulbous bow were actually American built. Sister ships "Shawnee" and "Iroquois" built in 1927 and designed by U.S. Naval architect Theodore Ferris. I like ROBYGEN's idea for trivia - go for it!

Thank you for informations Barryboat.
I didn't know these ships and it's always good to learn something from passionate peoples.
I've just read your comment about ZENITH (nice description!)and i would like to try the "crew's door to see stars and especialy to visit the most of parts of the ship i could. I've ever try several crew's doors on NORWAY last year (during the night, this is more exciting and more quiet)and all was okay.
Bye!

Vaccaro, Yes Ilove to go explore the cruise ships and it usually takes me to places that I'm not suppose to be. I use to have this thing with Smoke stacks - I would try to climb to the tops of smoke stacks. I've been to the top of Queen Mary in Long Beach, QE-2 while in mid-Atlantic, and the ss United States when she was in Norfolk. I've been to the top of the Norway's stacks too. When I was on the Norway I too explored the depths. I went to the forward engine room that is not in use at this time with my video camera. It was quite fun. The crew usually don't care or say anything. When I worked on the QE2 as Stage manager, I was careful because I didn't want to get in trouble, but I explored everywhere on that ship in my free time. I found where they put the old plastic white futuristic chairs that use to be in the Queens Lounge - now there are some in the crew lounges. Also, the foozeball table that use to be in the teenroom when the QE2 first came out is now in the crew area called the "Pig". Yes I'm very passionate about the ships.
