For those who have a TESCO card they are offering half price deals on the QE2 and Caronia next year in May, June and October.

May - Sunny European Harbours
June - Reflections in the Fjords II
October - Maderia and the Canaries

All departures are from Southampton.

See page 74 of the Christmad magazine for details.

Thanks for the information Jules. (For the Non-Brits, Tesco is a UK supermarket).

It sounds like a great deal. However many UK TA's are offering at least 40% off all early Cunard bookings. Not just the off-season ones.

I also suspect that some of the Cunard UK prices are higher than the Cunard USA prices (Rip-Off Britain strikes again!)

I can't help feeling that the Cruise Lines simply double the brouchure prices so they can claim to offer great discounts.

Hello, Malcolm,
the "Caronia" is often sold in Germany to very special prices, booking by some special agencies like Smaragd-Kreuzfahrten, Atlantik-Seereisen, AW-Kreuzfahrten and in the internet.
Also is offering www.cruisetravel.nl from the netherlands a lot of special prices.

I think, they have problems to fill the ship.

Remember, the Caronia is now nearly 30 years old and is not longer a 5-star-ship.

Cheapest offer in the last weeks was by the dutch for the "Olympic Voyager" of Royal Olympic Cruises:

2-bed inside cabin including flight from Amsterdam to Athens and back from USA to Amsterdam, 14 nights cruise from Athens
to Florida,

all together about 2400 dutch florin,
tis is 2150 german marks or 950 Dollars US

Often there are special offers for the QE 2,
for transatlantic runnings ore sometimes for the yearly world-cruise.

Greetings from Black Forest,
Schaljapin

Thanks for the info Schaljapin.

The Berlitz cruise guide rates 'Caronia' at 4.5 stars, not bad for an old lady!

Yes, Malcolm, i knew this.
It is the rating in Berlitz 2000.
The new Berlitz 2001 is ordered and i expect
delivery in about one month, from now on.

I made one Cruise with Cunards Crown Dynasty
in 1994, at this time the ship was 1 year old and rated 4 plus.

Best points are food, service and tips included.

The Caronia is the best rated old ship
except the QE 2.

All others in the high quality range are
much newer.

Schaljapin

Now is working for Crown Cruise Lines, rated 3 plus.
