I have heard that Premier ships are for sale.It should be a good choice to create a new classic cruise line to be called"Transatlantic line".Ships like the Oceanic and the Rembrandt will be perfect and could easily compete with Cunard(I don't like the QE2:in Italy we have had superb liners like the Andrea Doria,the Leonardo da Vinci and the Michelangelo,much better than the old and overrated british queen!)

I agree with you 100% Oh to bring back the true Italian style liner and service ...Costa is definitely NOT 'cruising Italian style' as their advertising states. I won't go into it here, but my only 'bad' cruise was with Costa this past March, and I've been on over 200 cruises, at least.

At any rate, since it is possible to do almost anything these days, bringing back the Oceanic to its true beauty and grace shouldn't be a problem, should it? I'm not suggesting that she be made to look like she did in the 60s/70s, but she is a sleek, classy lady. Updating her interior to enhance her original luster would be a dream come true. Then all we'd need is a company to treat her half as well as Home Lines did, and provide a staff & crew that are invested in their individual professions. That would be much more difficult, I fear, than the actual refit. One can dream, though, heh?

I'm all for finding ways to use the classic ships, but I'm not sure about the Italian style thing. I sailed on the Raffaello (in tourist class), and it didn't come close to the quality of our experience on the France.

To JanetD.I totally agree with you!Costa "cruising italian" style is NOT magnifico:it 's only pizza and tarantella but the true italian style is a way of life.Which was the Costa ship you have cruised in march? The horrific kids'boat Costa Riviera ?
