At 109,000 Tons (Approx) she will be one of the biggest Cruise ships to ever visit the U.K. The general public can book places on the mini-cruise via their TA's.
On 16th May, the Golden Princess embarks on her first cruise proper to the Mediterranean, from Southampton. She is unlikely EVER to return to British waters.
If you can't afford the mini-cruise, why not go to Southampton for the day to see her? (The security gaurds will let you walk down to the QE2 terminal and view her from raised walkway).

I received a mailing about this but unfortunately(!not) we are having a 5 day taster on the Crystal Symphony at that time. I think there are quite a few specials around the first couple of weeks of May from Southampton. I would have liked to take this taster, I quite like the short tastes as I always feel I have been away a lot longer than a couple of days and feel as great a benefit as a week long break at half the cost.
As you know 90% of UK cruises are 2 weeks long, very few are less than a 7/8 days.

In the early days of CruiseTalk (1998) some of the posts were two or three way conversations, at most. I often used to talk to myself! 'AirTalk' is a bit like that at the moment, but it's growing.
P.S. Why are you called Southampton?
More than 45 million passenger ferry journeys and nearly 8.8 million cars were transported on UK ferry routes to and from Britain and the Continent, the Republic of Ireland and onBritish domestic routes in 2000. These are the latest figures from Ferrystat, the UK’s leading monitor of the passenger ferry market.
Some 53% of all crossings last year were with nine operators, on the 27 routes between the UK and the Continent. The Short Sea crossing between Kent and Europe accounted for 16.5 million passengers, catered for by three operators. This was over 36% more than the number of passengers using Eurotunnel Shuttle Services, whose passenger numbers actually fell by 7.9%.
There was a small reduction in the number of UK-Republic of Ireland ferry passengers of 2.3% and of passengers on domestic routes of 0.8% during the year. However, there were increases in the number of cars on these routes. There were 908,000 cars transported to and from Britain and the Republic of Ireland, an increase of 3.3%. Similarly there was an increase of 0.7% in the number cars on domestic routes to reach nearly 3.3 million cars.
Commenting on the figures, William Gibbons, Director of the Passenger Shipping Association said, “The UK ferry industry has shown remarkable resilience in the face of competition from Eurotunnel and the abolition of duty free by offering more choice than ever before”
