This is one of my favorite photos of the Norway in the 80's. In fact I think this was among the first times I had ever seen the Norway arriving early in the morning. That's me in the picture waving at the Norway. I was so excited to see this ship! I can remember the feelings I had as I watched this grand ship pull into Miami. For me it was such a thrill! This picture captures that thrill I had, and it still evokes an emotion in me when I truly sit and look at this photo. My Dad took the picture of me while I was watching the great ship come in. I just wanted to share this special picture with my Cruise Talk friends.

She looked much better than she does now, but I still get a thrill when I see her. I mentioned on another topic that it would be nice if Orient would take her over instead of Star Cruise line and fit her out for long distance cruising. Great picture though.

Malcolm...nice joke about the added tonnage over the years! Your right..the Norway and me (at least) have added to our gross tonnage over the years.

I was much slimmer in the early eighties. I have tubs and tubs of photos of ships. This one I recently found as a slide transparency and made a print so that I could scan and place online.

BigUfan, I have lots of unique photos of ships where I did indeed go to great lengths to get the shot. Check this one out....I climbed up to the top of QE2's funnel (from the inside of course) to get this picture of QE2 in mid-Atlantic. There was a little hatch on top of the funnel for me to open and poke my head through. I quickly snaped this picture because the fumes were pretty harsh. When I got back down I had to quickly go to my cabin and change because I was full of black soot...

It's definitely Carnival, and probably the Tropicale, or one of the Holiday class ships. It doesn't look big enough to be a Fantasy or Destiny class ship.

The mystery ship is the Celebration arriving early in the morning in Miami. Timed explosure gave me this cool shot.

That's the beauty of this photo...that you can't tell it's a ship. Indeed it is a "Timed Exposure" of the ship passing through the channel in Miami early in the morning so it's dark. The ships lights are blurred because the ship was moving and the camera was still...on a tripod. You can sort of pick out the Carnival Funnel at least. Look at the upper left corner of the picture where the top of the blurred section begins...you can sort of pick out the Carnival Funnel and the colors.

I must be going blind.
About half way down the left side of the photo....about a quater of the way in, I can see something that mildly resembles a ship....is this it?

The entire background...that big streak of light is the ship. Again...it's a timed exposure and the lights from the ship moving past created streaks like you see int he picture. It's hard to tell it's a ship, but what else that BIG could move creating the streaked effect?
