The preview brochure is now available, from the German tour operator Holiday Kreuzfahrten, which will operate the P&O's Victoria from next December .

Renamed the Mona lisa, her maiden cruise from Genoa on next 20 Dec, for Civitavecchia, Palermo, Malta, Tunis, Palma, Barcelona. 7-day cruise from 699 Euro to 5,599. New Year cruise to Madeira, Gran Canaria, Malaga, etc.

On 6 Jan 2003 she leaves Genoa for an Atlantic crossing to Barbados, for a long cruise in Caribbean/Venezuelan waters, including a call in
Cuba. Curious, she crosses back to Genoa, arriving on the 16 Feb. Following cruises to alternate to Canary/Canaria and Med.

I don't know where you are in FL Dambrosi, but if you just wanted to see her, Victoria will be in Port Canveral on Mon 6 May, with my Mum & Dad aboard

[She then goes on to Charleston, an overnight in Norfolk, then Baltimore, before heading back this way, nice trip]

Lets hope that she doesn't get any Carnival passengers, someone might try to steal the funnel thinking it is an original piece of art!!

LOL Jeff! It's a fancy piece of artwork, bet it'll cost a bit to do and keep in good nick. Quite like it though, at least you can see it, unlike the original.

I've seen the above image too, surely it is a spoof?

If it's not, that must be one of the most ugly livery's in maritime history!

Ahhhhhhhh.....

They spoilt her profile when they chopped off the foward of her two funnels, only to replace the stern one with a giant version!

She (or should I say 'IT' to be PC?) is about the same size as the 'Black Watch'at 28,000 Tons approximately, which is a PERFECT size for a ship, in my opinion!

Brits may be interested to know that she is undertaking a for night mini-cruise on 2Oth May, from Southampton - return. The ports of call are Amsterdam and St.Peter Port, Guernsey.

There will only be two more cruises under P&O's wing, in June and July.

Here is an excellent history of the Kungsholm/Sea Princess/Victoria, with a photo tour:

Malcolm is right, 28,000 tons is about ideal. While the Black Watch is very nice Victoria's interiors are simply stunning with acres of real wood panelling. She really is the last ship running that gives passengers a taste of what liners were like. (Although Maxim Gorki comes close.) Malcolm, are you thinking of trying to cruise on her before she moves on, she still has quite a few voyages to run from England. My lucky parents are sailing on her through the Baltic during June.

Malcolm, I thought Victoria wasn't leaving the P&O fleet until the end of October and that her last cruise, The Farewell Cruise, is scheduled for 22nd October. Can someone set me straight on this?

Many thanks!

Is that piture some sort of sick joke?

I gotta be honest here - althogh Germans strike me as a nice enough people, their cruise ships do seem to represent a tackier taste than even Canival - A'rosa Blu, Mona Lisa, Aida? We all say that British ships are more tasteful than the Americans but Germany really takes the liverwurst!

Paddy.

P.S. I am totally aware that the Deutschland is in a league of its on class wise but you know what I am saying!

Yes, two oversized funnels at that!

I still suspect that the original Picture of the 'Mona Lisa' is a fake? I do hope I'm right!

Remember when ships' names had some sort of relevance behind them? They used to have something to do with the nation they represented- QUEEN MARY, ROTERDAM, UNITED STATES, etc. Now we have Royal Caribbean's ------ OF THE SEAS, Carnival's bizzare naming practises, etc. As if this wasn't bad enough- now the MONA LISA? Who do these cruise lines put in charge of naming these ships?!
