hello,
there are some brochure deckplans on the site of pullmanturcruises :
www.pullmanturcruises.com/brisas/index.html click on "oceanic.
By the way there is already a photo of "Holiday Dream" in Pullmanturcruises livery on this site.
I wonder, has anyone sailed yet on "Oceanic" with pullmanturs, it seems to me a rather accessible cruise, on such a classic liner.

Yes Sir!
It was a marvellous experience. Though I have no command of Spanish it was easy. They employ an English speaking hostess. Most Spaniards don't speak English (well). But there is a portion of South Americans passengers aboard, that do speak English well. The ship is in good condition and the cruise staff (many from South America) is very friendly and most speak English too. Excursions were only in Spanish, but you got an English daily programme. The cruise is very affordable, and even more when you book well in advance since there is an early booking discount. Last minute fares I have not seen. So no reason to wait! On my cruise I was the only German, but there was a handful of English citizens, mostly living in Spain.

Who was the Hotel Manager?
Many thanks to enlight me,

I have always thought that the Oceanic had the most beautiful and graceful lines of any passenger ship ever built, especially in Home Lines colors.

I sailed Oceanic under Home Lines several times as a youngster. Later in my career aboard ships I had good fortune to sail & work aboard her under Premier Cruise Line.

Initially I was shocked with the red hull, yellow lifeboat propellors and Disney characters. But in the early days of PCL, a spirited life was brought to my favorite of all ships...Oceanic. She was a real ship..and I can still remember smells, sounds and textures of Oceanic.

Her hull was amazingly solid, and sailed so smoothly. Only when at top speed was some vibration rumble noticable. I hope she sails on for years to come.

TampaMike,
I too was lucky to experience the ssStarShipOceanic!
Besides the hull color and Disney characters, I couold compare her to ssRoyale.
Much to my disappointment, the cosy observation lounge just beneath the bridge was then a buffet restaurant.
I noticed the whole stern whobbled gently at speed.
In a bad storm, we had a RCCL ship slamming the waves badly and trying to keep with us as we smoothly sailed past!
Have you met Purser Louis Rappaport?

The Satellite Cafe was often called the "Golden Corral" by those of us onboard. It was also a late night break spot for much of the staff...and of course, the draw of pizza.

Our officer's mess was just above and also had the view over that long, graceful bow. Atop the Bridge, there was a small observation lounge that also served as the base of the mast. It was known as "Snuffy's" in Premier days...a good place for staff card games. It was always an officers day loung, including it's Home Lines days.

I transferred from Royale to Oceanic, then Atlantic & Majestic. When Oceanic joined the fleet, our Royale became the frumpy step sister. But I loved all the nooks and crannies of the older liner designs. Oceanic was, at that time..the biggest, best thing sailing to Nassu. How quickly times change.

I remember Louis...and those purple shades he wore!

Do you remember the Captain of ssO?
He used to joke that the ship had to be slowed down for fear of reaching New-York the day after leaving Nassau!
I was terrified, as I only packed summer clothing!
Strangely, the dining-room was not my favorite place onboard.
As it is StPatrick's day, I must confess how horrified I was when the water to fill the bath turned green!
It even happens to newer Princess ships!
I was priviledged to compare her with another great Italian(French-built) : ssSky Princess.
Both are the same size, yet what a difference!
The Magrodome was my favourite place, and I loved to see it working!
Bet Princess tried to get ssO!

ssLewis,
My experience when dining was that it was quite traditional, with grace. The dining room was marvellous with a complex metal structure as the lighting. The two level center section was tiled with now terracotta-colored tiles. These were grey years before, I was told. I liked the food and could not see any lack of quality. The selection of desserts was only after main course was finished. I was told that this was not uncommon in earlier years. This was definitely no buffet-style experience. Buffet was in front of the magro-dome pool area.
It was not definitely Spanish, I would say. International is the right expression. There was once a "Tapas Time" at the buffet, at a time the buffet was normally closed.

Chief Purser: Rosario Meza (Peru)

Thank you very much.
The crew is very Mediterranean, and Portuguese at it.
I would like to sail in November when the sea is rougher than now.
The passage to Tunis is wonderful, allowing passengers to know the ship, relax and prepare for the tedious excursions schedules!
Now, looking for a webcam that show my favourite ship...

Funny, the Purser and Chef names rings a bell...Regent Star?
Crew Purser was from Peru.
Chef got me totally addicted to Apple Strudel and Sausages with delicious sauercraut(which I hated on land...)...a small world
