After the problems on the world cruise, the problems with the tapestries a third serious incident with a QE2 crew member, this time in Norway, where a crew member is held in prison for an alleged rape on a female crewmember

see the link

Crew selection/management is a difficult topic, it seems.

With a crew of that size you are bound to get a very few members that are going to be a problem. The vast majority are hard working decent people from what I have seen on board QE2 (and the other ships we have been on).

Yeh and thene we blame Princess it's very easy.
Because we don't speak negativ about Cunard the wonder line. Maybe those bad publicity where there longer thene we al now. And after Carnival/Princess stept in The company became opener to the public.

And most importened those view incidents are just happen after each other within short time. It could happen a/b every line and ship. Easy up.

The so called rapper must whene proved be puniched (i now what i will do with him) And the victim must give all suport she cane get.

Ben.

Ben, don't get me wrong. I know that Cunard will prosper under Princess and I am not trying blame Princess or speak negative about them. But its ironic that these two incidents happened not that far apart and its after Princess management. I don't think I've heard of these incidents when Cunard was Cunard..

A small language note: a rapper would be someone who sings rap music, quite a different thing from a rapist!

Yes i understand but i was traying to lead the discusion in such away, that whene Cunard is the subject that some among us become overheated and won't here negativ things about the line.

I believe that Cunard under Princess is much open to the public. And therfore more negativ news is coming public. And yes now there is much attention to Cunard news spread quicker thene before, the Carnival takeover.

Empressport thanks!

Greetings Ben.

Hi guys

Newposter so be kind, especially as I am from the forgotten continent here in Africa, anyway have been reading the posts for some time with great enjoyment and on reading about the QE2 issue decided it was time I had a small comment so here goes.

Worked for P&O / Princess for 8 years and these things do happen, have a very friend who worked on board QE2 during the same time and if anything from what he said these issues seemed to happen more frequently, we decided at the time it was due to the preasure on the crew etc to perform, as we all know Cunard has had its back to the wall for donkeys years financially, but if truth be told these things happen ashore probably more often than at sea, it is just it is great headlines when it is on a cruise ship or liner.

Well there's my say, hi from the most stunning country in the world albeit one with probably the least opportunities to cruise (the Melody or Rhapsody down here hardly count) as we have to fly so far. I'm lucky get to do at least 1 a year.

Cheers
Mike

Welcome aboard springbok Mike.

What you say is true. Cruise ships make great media targets, see: norovirus outbreaks, rogue waves, suicides (people overboard), thefts, misbehaviour (drunkeness, etc)., and whatever else takes the editor's fancy.

******

Cheers
