Hi all;

Akdeniz continues to serve the Maritime industry! After several years of being anchored off Tuzla, Istanbul, she is now docked alongside a newly built pier off the campus of the Maritime Faculty of Istanbul Technical University (ITU).

There has been talks of breaking her up over the past year but being the coordinator of a joint degree program between SUNY Maritime and ITU Maritime, a colleague and myself succeded in convincing others that she still has lots of life in her. She is now being used in a static role as a dorm for the joint degree students. Cabins and some common areas are refurbished. she is one hell of a classic beauty!

It is a start and hope continues to exist!

I sure would. This is always a possibility and I'll do whatever I can to make sure that this beauty does not go for scrap!

my ant was onboard her about 10 years ago
for a 10 nights cruise to Turkish riviera (Antalia,Kushadasi,Budrom,Patia) and to the Marmara sea and Istanbul. she told me that this ship really had a "taste of the past" interior with beautifull wooden grand staircase and nice launges.
she really had a good time on this ship

nice to sea this ship still arround
