NCL had also crammed more tables into the 1st class, which also made it hotter! However it certainly looked more attractive.
I read that the domed ceiling created an effect of amplifying sound. Rather a mistake on the part of the designers, restaurants are loud enough as is, but it does make for a spectacular room.

I remembered seeing some blue water glasses on ebay that were said to come from the France's dining room as well as some wine glasses, neither appear on these tables..
French Line used the "Normandie pattern" for FRANCE's glassware and china--that's the CGT in a circular-style logo.

I'm not familiar with the "St. Louis" pattern in relation to the FRANCE. The Normandie pattern was used throughout the ship, to my knowledge.

Hmm on Ebay i come across numerous items of glassware(pitchers, water glasses, wine glasses) said to be from the S.S. France in the St. Louis pattern. I'll look and see if i can find an example, it is very different from the Normandie pattern.
(sigh) I loved that room.
