Peaceboat changed chartering to MONA LISA.
It departs from Piraeus on November 5.

The schedule for the future is not clear yet.
It is not clear whether the next voyage is chartered.

Many thanks for that news.

Lets hope the rest of the voyage has no problems.

Is Mona Lisa still due to arrive in Yokohama on the 18th December 2008 ?

Is it known if Mona Lisa is chartered to do the next Peace Boat voyage from the 21st December 2008 to the 5th April 2009.

Obviously MONA LISA is not a long-term solution for Peace Boat since she is chartered over the summers and she is being retired in 2010 anyway, but obviously in the short term this is a very good choice. Unlike CLIPPER PACIFIC she has proven to be a reliable ship.

I guess Peace Boat's charter of CLIPPER PACIFIC is officially over then - one wonders what will happen to her now. I think she would be suitable for accommodation ship purposes but I cannot imagine who would charter her for further trading, or indeed that Clipper would charter her to someone for further trading now knowing what her condition is.

I really think she would be a good candidate for Alang, sadly enough.

Doug,

I wonder whether Peaceboat would charter her again from summer 2009 should Clipper decide to give her a thorough refurbishment in the meantime. That of course depends on whether Clipper considers investing in her makes economic sense.

Best,

Raoul

There is one place for the Clipper Pacific and that is on the beaches at Alang !

I can not see that anyone would now consider chartering her after all her recent problems.

Peace Boat may have a problem finding a ship to charter when the Mona Lisa is not available.

One cruise ship which nothing has been heard of for some time is Aegean 1, which might be available to charter.

Previous posters mentioned the former NEW FLAMENCO. She would also be suitable for Peaceboat's needs.

Interesting fact that Doug mentioned....Mona Lisa has proven to be a reliable ship of late. During her SAL days, she was never thought to be as reliable as Gripsholm. She did have some problems with her A/C which were never entirely fixed during her SAL days. I don't remember any engine problems during SAL days. Hope she works out well as the Peace Boat.

Not sure why, but Mona Lisa moved out the Piraeus harbour at about 03.00 hrs today, Monday, and anchored off the port.

It could have been to let some of the visiting larger cruise ships get a berth as three were due in port today.

She is now on the move again according to the AIS maps and heading for Kusadasi where she is due to arrive at 06.00 hrs on Tuesday.

I wonder if the Clipper Pacific left behind any passengers when at Kusadasi or Izmir or maybe they refused to re-embark on her !

It was not the route Mona Lisa should be taking if taking over the Peace Boat voyage.

After the call at Piraeus, Clipper Pacific was scheduled to call at Malta, and Barcelona and then go on to Las Palmas before crossing to La Guaira in Venezuela.

Next year Lord Nelson Seereisen Cruises have the first cruise for Mona Lisa advertised as departing on the 1st May 2009.

Should Mona Lisa do another cruise for the Peace Boat Movement that is advertised as departing from Yokohama on the 21st December and returning there on the 5th April which would not give Mona Lisa much time to get back for her cruise departing on the 1st May.

The one ship that Peaceboat should go after is the Regal Empress. No if, ands, or but's about it.

Well the problem with that is the almost impossibility of making her Solas 2010 compliant. So why would the Regal Empress be any more useful than the Mona Lisa, which also has this restriction. Peace Boat needs a ship that available as a long term charter. Likely a 1970's built cruise ship, hopefully in better shape than the Clipper Pacific.

Both of Japan Grace and Peaceboat are not publicly scheduling it for the future.
Both are announcing the voyage schedule for the future and voyage thereafter while
adjusting it with related each place.
However, it seems to guide details to passenger's family by the
document.
It seems to show the schedule to the passenger of the voyage after 64th.
Unfortunately, I have not acquired detailed information.
I know only to enter Barcelona on the November 11th on the website in the Barcelona port.

As Mona Lisa is now shown as arriving in Yokohama on the 13th January 2009 it would appear that she is keeping to the original voyage plan, and visiting all the ports which Clipper Pacific should have callled at, although running about three weeks behind schedule.

This voyage should have finished on the 18th December 2008.

A friend has sent me some pics of MONA LISA at Malta and in case anyone is wondering (as indeed I was beforehand), she is unaltered in appearance and does not have "Peaceboat" splashed across her (very rusty and dirty) hull or anywhere else. And yes....she still has that smile on her funnel.

You could get forward and aft web cam views of Mona Lisa today while she is at Barcelona.

The Costa Cruises ship Costa Concordia is moored aft of her on the same quay, and the MSC Cruises ship Sinfonia is moored forward of her.

Here she comes NOW in this live web cam of the locks. If someone can grab some stills of her please? I'm off to work now. THANKS!!

Both are SLOW and takes a second or twenty to load...

This might get some close ups of her decks when she comes into range.
