Thanks for sharing. There are also several interior images of ss France showing just how elegant some of her interiors were. The color images of Normandie after the fire on her side are very dramatic.

These are great shots! I look at the pic of QE each day as i have it framedin my solarium. I love that shot.

The pic of QM and Normandie is quite striking and a real contrast between wartime and peace time.

Thanks for sharing. Do you have a URL to more shots?

As dramatic as B&W is, color certainly makes the image more contemporary.

Wow! What fabulous shot!
The contrast between the B&W/Grey Queen Mary and vibrant prewar livery still on Normandie is absolutely poetic.

I would love this as a framed poster print on my office wall.

Just out of curiosity why would the QM have her lifeboats swung out to the side?

I see some khaki behind the lifeboats (it is a wonderful color photo !)
Perhaps a drill or exerccise is going on ?

Normandie looks much bigger than QM.

One correction....the colored photo of Normandie shows her funnels in a more Cunard red when in reality French Line funnels were a crimson red.....perhaps it's the age of the photo.

It appears that French Line crimson red (like Cunard red) either fades or changes w/each dye lot. I would think crimson red being much darker but I have seen color images of Normandie and ss France w/a lighter red/orange livery.

It is interesting to compare the bridgefronts of Normandie and QM. The Cunarder appeared very dated when compared to the incredibly modern look of the CGT liner.

Even though they are basically the same width, Normandie w/her expansive bridge appears much wider.

Normandie was way before my time, but I have seen Flandre, Ile-de-France, Liberte, and France and have sailed on each. The CGT funnels were always crimson red with no orange-red at all. This orange-red only appears in photos.

Could be the light. There are a few color films of Normandie on YouTube. In those films, the funnels look anywhere from dark to medium red-depending on the light.
