The gorgeous ss Oceanic arrived in NYC today for the first time in 24-years. She docked stern first at the PST in her old home port.

Although I was never a fan of Oceanic during her Home Lines days, I am very happy to see her at the port from which she sailed for so many years. I wish her well and many years of sailing yet!

Great to see her there, and hopefully another 10 years of NY port calls ahead! A little bit strange to see the Peace Boat next to the aircraft carrier, tho...

Wouldn't it be nice to see the SS United States permanently docked alongside the USS Intrepid?

NEW YORK (AP) -- A cruise ship carrying 848 passengers from Iceland is being detained in New York Harbor after a routine safety inspection detected a small hole in its hull.

A U.S. Coast Guard team discovered the damage after boarding the cruise ship Oceanic on Thursday. It found that about a gallon of water per hour was leaking into the vessel.

Chief Petty Officer Russ Tippets said Friday that's "a very small amount.''

The ship's port of call was New York.

The Coast Guard determined that the damage occurred after the ship left Reykjavik (RAY-kyah-veek), Iceland, but before it arrived in New York.

Tippets says it's expected the hole can be repaired before its scheduled departure for Venezuela at noon Saturday
