I am very pleased to present to you the photo of the HALF MOON sailing atop a globe. I had gotten this photo from the Rotterdam Maritime Museum this morning. I have sent the photo to a friend of mine who worked aboard her in the '60's.

Thanks so much Dambrosi. So good to see it again after all these years. I was just a lad when I sailed on N.A., but the memories have lasted. She seemed so large to a young fellow and I remember the terrific, at least I thought it was, sheer when walking around. In heavy seas it was noticeable. The deck was often not where your brain told you it would be as you walked. I think it was more pronounced on N.A. than any ship I was aboard. I enjoyed the photo. Thanks again.

Thank you so much Deborah. It's always a pleasure to see art pieces from the old liners specially the legends such as our beloved Nieuw Amsterdam.

As I told you I believe she's in the Seattle HAL HQ. I will sent Roland of HALblog a mail and ask him if it still in the office.

The top part of the sculpture was was removed when the NA went for scrap.

It found a home on the top shelf of the Hudson Bar on the Statendam IV

When the Statendam IV was sold in 1982 it apparently wound up in the home of the van der Vorm family.
