A few times over the years Home Lines' Oceanic and Homeric were together in ports. I would love to find a picture of one of these events.

Anyone got such a picture? Ever seen one?

If you have it please contact me.

I have a few of the Doric and Oceanic together but none of the Homeric and Oceanic.

Thanks

Here is the only photo I could find, this was from my cruise on the GALILEO from NY to Bermuda in July '87. It's a bit grainy and I tried to correct it. I know I have a couple of postcards of them being there. Hope this helps.

A nice photo of ATLANTIC and HOMERIC together. By the time HOMERIC entered service in 1986, OCEANIC of course had left Home Lines and was a Big Red Boat. I'm sure they were in port together some time, but have not seen a photo of them.

It's more likely to find a photo of OCEANIC together with the previous HOMERIC, since they were fleetmates for some 9 years.

Allan,
I have never seen a picture of the Oceanic with the old Homeric. Good luck, hope you find one. When does the book come out?

Thanks everyone

But I am looking for the 1955 Homeric and the Oceanic together. They on occasion were together in NYC so I am hoping someone took that picture.

Another thread here has one of the Homeric in the bay at St. Thomas and the Oceanic outside the harbor but too far to get the image I would like to see.

Fingers crossed someone has it ... I have Oceanic and Doric together and there must be some of Oceanic and Atlantic. A lot of people have Atlantic and 1986 Homeric.

Thanks

Thanks. I vaguely remember seeing that view. Odd that the Atlantic was backed in that day because she did not regularly back in.

No Homeric in that photo from late 1982 or 1983.

From left to right it's Oceanic, Atlantic, Volendam (or Veendam), Scandanavia.

mvAtlantic had a few problems when new.
The weather wasn't good either and her low bow often sustained damages.
Perhaps she was turned away from town so that repairs were carried out quietly?
Same applied to the Scandinavian ferry docked near her.
I hope someone comes with ssHomeric and Oceanic together, whereever?
They would most problably meet at Nassau or StThomas or sail together from Nyc at Xmas?

I sailed on the Atlantic including on her maiden voyage. She had minor issues that I recall and never any structural damage. The Oceanic actually had a bigger issue with the bow that put her in peril a few times.

I have seen pictures of the Oceanic bow in when her bow was being repaired .... so unless Home Lines needed access to the starboard side I don't think the repairs idea works.

Scandinavia always backed in because she had stern ramps -- originally designed for the cars to load. NYC actually rebuilt that dock putting the apron on for the ramps/cars. She continued to back in even when she was doing the cruises at the end because the ramps also provided easy supply access.

As for Homeric and Oceanic they met up in New York more than a few times during their careers (1965-1973) and the Homeric and Oceanic were actually both in New York on the first Saturday the Oceanic was in New York in 1965 and the last Saturday of the Homeric's life in 1973. I hope/believe someone must had captured a picture one of those many times.
