Recently I have seen some expensive sales on ebay.de of a few lovely models of proposed / never-built ocean liners. The waterline models in 1:1250 sclae, look to be hand made by an english producer, Ron Hughes. The models appear to be based on the images from the book Damned by Destiny.

First is the White Star Liner Oceanic III, which was unfortunatley broken up while on the builder's stocks as WSL could not afford her construction. She would have been the first 1000' liner.

Next we have the Amerika / Viktoria, designed for North German Lloyd to supercede the Bremen and Europa. Supposedly a pet project of Hitler, the ship never made it off the drawing board, due to WW2.

This model shows the design by Vladimir Yourkevitch for the Bretagne, the proposed Normandie running mate. I am not sure that the French Line would have actually have built something this avant-garde, but it makes a cool looking model.

The last model so far, is this one of the American "Liberty" liner. THis was a post war version of the giant 1200' preWW2 Yankee Clipper design.

With the exception of Bretagne, all fine looking ships; especially the Amerika/Viktoria.

Looks like Yourkevitch put his best foot forward with Normandie, and then pulled it back with Bretagne.

Wow, love the Amerika, Viktoria model I notice there was a similar design element between the German and French design of forward placed funnel(s) and a large uncluttered deck with large deck space.

The American ship is handsome would love to see here in real time. Much better then the US.

THANKS fore sharing, Ben.

Looking at Amerika / Viktoria and Bretagne, the rationale for the design of Pasteur (see here as Bremen) becomes a little clearer.

I particularly like the terraced forward and rear superstructure. If ever built would have upstaged the SS United States.

The Bretange reminds me of the Queen Anna Maria with the built up stern and the aircraft carrier rear deck.

The 'Liberty' liner has an Italian look IMO. The thick mast and the now-common lifeboat placement gives it a very modern look.

I know that there is models of the proposed Gripsholm and Kungsholm who was ordered in the early 90´s and then cancelled by some new cruiseline i think. There was a discussion about this a few years ago on this site and someone claimed to have seen drawings too.
