Well the MS RYNDAM was preparing fore a regular Scandinavia cruise. The MS ROTTERDAM was preparing fore a special voyage to commemorative that HAL closed down there Trans Atlantic service between Rotterdam and New York with a departure of TSS NIEUW AMSTERDAM on November 9 1971.
Here some pictures of both vessels berthed in Rotterdam it was not since 2002 that 2 HAL ships where berthed together in there home port.

When RYNDAM sailed, there were balloons flying and hundreds of people cheering at the pier. When we sailed at 9pm, even more balloons and people to see us off, along with bands playing--it was a very special event.
Two hours later, as we passed Hoek van Holland, there was a massive fireworks display from shoreside as we entered the North Sea, with thousands of well-wishers stretched for miles along the waterway, watching us depart. It was truly a special crossing!
