A ship in layup for 5 years, built in the 70s, never very reliable, and no refit that I have heard of.
I would actually be scared to sail on her.
When Ocean Dream was named Spirit of London / Sun Princess, she was very reliable when I worked on her and dry-docked every year.
The 1970's built Cunard Countess was sailing on similar cruises as us at that time.
She is also still in service and now cruising from the UK as Ocean Countess.
There are also several other 1970's built cruise ships which remain in service..
Some classic vehicles are laid up for a very long time, so like the vehicles it should not have caused too many problems in getting her diesel engines running again.
With ship building and ship repair work taking place in China a re-fit of the accommodation areas should not have been a problem for her new owners during the nearly two months between her leaving the anchorage near to Port Klang and starting cruising again.
It is great to see her back in service again..
