Today marks the 30 year anniversary of the start of the Falkland Islands war.

Two great liners, the QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 and CANBERRA, were deployed to the war and successsfully returned home to Southampton.

There were many signs created by the troops hanging over the side as Canberra sailed in. My favoutie was: CANBERRA CRUISES WHERE THE QE2 REFUSES

Canberra post Falklands was a fantastic ship, I wish she was still around. I did 2 trans Pacific's on her, the best voyages ever for me.

As a 12 year old school boy, seeing the Canberra sail to the Falklands started my interest in cruise ships. To this day, seeing her return home to the most amazing welcome is still one of the most memorable days of my life...
