quote:Originally posted by NAL:I had the privilege of traveling on Vistafjord three times when she was with NAL, not NAC. She was a great travel experience, but not quite to the level of SAL. She was the closest line to it in MHO. I think her interiors are now the best they have ever been. She will be missed.
I would not go that far to say that she was great when I experienced her (not at all, actually) and I have to admit that she grew on me only during the past years - until then she was 'old but not antique' for me - of course, more 'antique' ships were still around at that time. The only thing that distinguished Vistafjord for me back then was the fact that she was a truly international ship that was well known and hand a loyal following in the English-speaking as well as the German-speaking world.
However, since I also have the impression that she is at her best in her present incarnation it's very sad for me to see her go since this could mean that I wil not have the opportunity to revist her. In a strange way her retirement can indeed be seen as marking the end of an era since she not only a link to 'Scandinavian' but also to traditional cruising like it's hard to find these days.
