Are there any other 14-16 year olds who have cruised on QE2 / Caronia ?

I am a parent so I can't give you a peers opinion.
But I sailed with my daughter (11 at the time ) and son (7) at the time on the QE2 last July 4th weekend (NY-Bermuda-Nassua-Newport News Va - NY). There was a group of about 15-20 teenagers about evenly mixed between boys and girls. They seemed to have a very good time. And I know my kids had a great time.

When I was growing up I sailed on a number of cruises (5), basically every other year from age 10. My last was as a senior in High School. Then all of the cruise ships were "classic" and simiar the QE2 and Caronia. I always had a great time and a group of people my age to hang out with.

Now when the cruise sails and where it goes will affect how many in your age group are abourd. If you cruise when school is in session there will be fewer teenagers on board. If you sail during a school break or during the summer their will be more on board.

Also - much more likely to have more teenagers in the Caribbean or on Canal cruises than in the Med or the Greek Isle oer Alaska.

Now my understanding is that the Caronia is less kid or teenager friendly than the QE2 - its a small ship (<25,000 tons) and has less facilities than the QE2 (80,000 tons.

I hope this helps. If you like you can try the cunard website www.cunardline.com.

Also if you want I can have my daughter send you a response of her viewpoint, although she is 11.

Thank you!

I would like to hear what your daughter has to say about her cruise on QE2.

I have been on QE2 four times (I am 16) but I want to get some other children's / teenagers responses for a review I am writing on family cruising on QE2 for the Cunard Line.

Thanks again.

Hi cunard, my name is samycav and I am divers daughter.

I had an excellent time on the QE2 and though there was a mix of age groups (of kids and teens) it didn't matter what the age was we all had a good time together.

There were about 3 of us that were 11-12, about 6-8 younger kids, and about about 8-10 older teens (14-18).

You meet so many interesting people daredevils, experienced travelers, first time travelers etc., game mavens, tricksters you name it you meet them. Also they were from all over the world.

The food was great and there was a lot to do. Just running around, playing in the pool, or playing arcade games. There is always something to do.

The best part was the parents didn't have to supervise you much at all - you couldn't go anywhere except overboard, and nobody wanted to do that!

The kids clubs are great - I had a lot of fun including running around the ship at night in my pajamas. The counselors where real nice. The rooms where comfortable.

It was great.

Samycav

Thanks for that!

IM 16 and first cruised on QE2 when I was 11 - but we were the only kids on the ship (me and my sister).

I have since been on QE2 4 times but mainly do my own thing on the ship - I think she is GREAT! (You probably figured )

Well thanks for the message.

Take care.

Cunard.
