We were on Holland America Line. Their kids program starts at age 5, and is adequate but I don't think it is as extensive as the ones on Celebrity or Princess. Having said that, we still tend to favor HAL for the rest of the cruise experience.
We did a couple of the wildlife watching tours and did alot of walking around the ports and visiting museums. We also made sure to take some time to play outside in a park each day when in port.
In addition, we've been on the sea kayaking tours and enjoyed ourselves. The kids should be able to handle this with an adult in a two-person kayak by the time they are age five. The sea kayaks are very stable.
Alaska is a wonderful family vacation. I'm sure you will have a great time.
