How long does a forum need to be inactive on Travelpage before it is shut down? This one has cobwebs.

All the CruiseTalk posts ever made are still here, unless they were deleted for inappropriate content - which is very very rare.

If no one adds post to them, they just slip down the list - or to be more accurate the list grows above it.

If you adjust your 'profile' you can display all the posts in each forum. You can also carry out a 'search' using the menu above.

If you find an old post, you can re-activate it by adding a new post to it.

With CruiseTalk, you can live forever!

(Joe, is there a limit to how long the server will hold all of the posts? We must have more than three years worth, now?)

Malcolm, I interpreted Jesses' question was more like "why is this forum maintained when it draws so little input"?

If this is so, the question is similar to one earlier this year concerning the value of the whole forum.

I have certainly observed the lack of activity.

The problem of unruly kids on board cruise ships seems to have abated, at least from my own experience and is no longer an issue.

There do seem to be an increasing number of very intelligent young persons contributing to Cruise Talk. Why not change this to an area where they can communicate with each other on matters of interest to them? I personally don't like the use of the word "kids". Why not change it to "young cruisers forum"?

PS. I believe that I have confused the issue by using the word "forum". My intent was to suggest that "cruising with kids" be deleted and changed to "young cruisers Forum". Not the whole website.

Oh, I see! My mistake.

Well this is really a question for Joe, but that will not stop me giving you my opinion.

Firstly I assume that CruiseTalk was designed to generate interest, inform and importantly sell cruises.

Although cruisetalk does not always have mega-activity, it does have a big membership - I think Joe said about 5000? Many people simply use Travelpage as a resource and read it.

We probably have more posts that you realise? The "young cruises forum" is an interesting idea.

(I've no idea how many cruises are sold via Travelpage and if CruiseTalk really does generate these sales? I've no idea if the banners even pay for the server space?)

Actually, every once in a while we do get good questions and answers on this forum so while it is inactive at times, I see no reason to send it to the "scrappers" just yet.

I think you'll surprised at how many families are now travelling with their kids and I think these numbers will continue to grow. Being someone that travels with children quite often, I am always searching out information related to the "young" crew. I appreciate the information and having lots of experiences in traveling including cruising with children I would be more than happy to offer info and advice to other young travelling families. I think it's a keeper!
