I'm a big fan of Walt Disney World and I enjoy the parks 2-3 times a year. I've always admired the beautiful DCL ships but the price and kids have always kept me away. So the WONDER cruise is only 3-days which will be just enough to provide a taste of DCL without breaking the bank. I figure in early November the kids will be at a minimum (at least by Disney standards). I'm a very detailed oriented person and I love Disney attention to detail, so I'm anxious to see how the cruise division stands up.

I have friends (w/kids) who have cruised w/Disney several times and they told me there are plenty of areas onboard devoted to adults. The ships (like the theme parks) were certainly designed to be appreciated by adults w/all the expensive attention to detail their ships feature.

Disney, I believe, has gone through great trouble to make sure that their ships appeal to singles and couples as well as families.
Lots of couples sail on Disney without kids; the line does an excellent job of keeping kids on their own deck areas, quite happily occupied. There are also "adults only" lounges and bars.
It's almost surprising how many adults love the Disney experience. I've been told that Disney is one of the top, if not THE top, honeymoon destination within the U.S.

Wrong! There are a surprisingly high number of passengers who book disney who do not have kids.
Wow, I think if Disney marketers read this comment they would feel as if they failed miserably. I have never thought Disney or DCL as just for families. I started going to Disney as a young child and I enjoy it just as much today as an adult. I feel (as do millions of others), that Disney is for people of all ages, with or without kids. I remember when DCL first started, they actually published two brochures. One for adults and one for families with kids. The ships were designed from the start to have adults only areas, such as the spa, Cove Pool, Cove Cafe, Palo restaurant, and the adults only nightclub areas (consists of three bars and lounges). Even today the brochures are very clear to point out that DCL caters to adults that want to get away from kids, hence all these adult only areas. Even Castaway Cay has an adults only beach with private massage cabanas called Serenity Bay. I've seen samples of the ship's daily program, called the "Personal Navigator" and it's divided up to shows activities for kids, families, and adults only. Pretty clever actually.
As a lover of Disney and also of ships, you would think DCL would be a natural fit. Ever since the ships were introduced I have wanted to sail on them. In most cases it was the price that encouraged me to book away. While I have never had a problem paying more to stay at Disney resorts at WDW, I didn't know if the "magic" would be worth the extra cost onboard a ship. There are just so many great ships out there at a much lower cost than Disney. Also the abundance of kids played a role in my booking alternative cruise lines, but more and more people assure me it will not be an issue. I've been spending some time on a dedicated Disney message board, and I have been learning a lot about DCL. These people are very passionate about Disney and they certainly know their stuff.
I'm very anxious to sail DCL as I love to experience new things. This is one reason that new ship designs are so appealing to me. Once completed, I can add two new cruise lines to my growing list having completed Windstar earlier this year.
Out of the 26 cruises I have been on, my two with Disney I saw less kids onboard and I sailed in July both times. They were busy and it was nice not having teens riding elevators for fun. In fact my second sailing with Disney I did just with my adult friends. At the time we were in our mid twenties to thirties and everyone had a blast. We all enjoyed the adult only areas and of course Castaway Cay.
You should try it!
