HEADED TO "Isla De Margarita and Pt of Spain Trinadad" any opinion on what is a must see or must not see on these two islands would be appriciated. Even offers of what you did while there.
Thanks Kevin

Don't laugh but have only been to each port once and stayed on the ship both times.
When we were in Isla Margarita two years ago at Christmas we just got off the ship and looked at the craft stands on the dock. Some people went to the nearby little beach, but came back with stories of Sea Urchans/Jelly Fish in the water.
Others took tours and enjoyed them, except the one to the city (can't remember the name) - too far to go and too costly through the ship's excursions.

It's been a few years since I have been to Trinidad, but have been advised to be careful there. Green has a story to tell of a near purse snatching.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
From ABC News.com

Readers have alerted Travelscam! to some creative pick-pocketing outside the Coliseum in Rome. Beware of roving gangs of young attractive women who might try to distract you by showing you their babies, while their friends strip your pockets and bags of their valuables. Watch for newspapers or other objects that may shield their movements. A loud, firm voice may get rid of them. While inside the Coliseum, other travelers have spotted a similar ruse in the form of fellow tourists. It goes something like this: A man (or woman) asks you to take his picture. He has very specific directions for where you should stand, directing you toward his companion while taking the photo. That’s when his partner relieves you of the contents of your pockets.

This brought to mind my experience in Port of Spain, Trinidad a couple of years ago. Out walking, we came to a church square - many young women holding tiny infants, some only a few days old, all dressed in exquisite christening gowns, were waiting to enter the church. One particularly attractive baby caught my eye - the mother (I guess) came towards me, arms outstretched - from behind I heard 'DON'T TAKE IT' and I was pulled backwards by a Steward from our ship. He explained as he led me away that the moment the baby was in my hands, the mother would run, screaming KIDNAP - KIDNAP, through the square. The victim, quite literally, is left 'holding the baby'. Of course the police will come and you can be sure that her many 'relatives and friends' will swear that they saw the baby being snatched from her arms.

I'll be forever grateful to that HAL Steward. I'd hate to be thrown behind bars anywhere - and certainly not in a foreign country.

Be aware - be careful!

Happy cruisin'
---------------------------------------------------------------

- I now give babies, puppies and other cute things a very wide berth! and never wear jewellery of any kind when going ashore.

Isla De Margarita - don't think I've been there - hear it's nothing special.

Somewhere else someone posted another good tip - dress like the 'natives', you'll attract less attention - and forget the 'bumbag'!

Hope you have a great cruise
