We are travelling on the Costa Atlantica in March with 6 teenagers (15-18) and would like some fun safe ideas in these ports. Any suggestions? Oh also give us a ballpark figure on cost. Thanks

Cozumel and the Grand Cayman are great. Friendly and helpful people. In Cozumel you should barter for almost all of your purchases, it is almost expected. Otherwise you will be paying way to much.

If any of the teens are girls and they would like the braiding stuff in their hair, they do a great job at the pier in Cozumel. My youngest daughter can atest to that.

We took the Tulum Mayan ruins tour and it was great. That cost about $66US each and took about 6 hours.

In the Cayman we went on the island tour that went to HELL. Of course we mailed a bunch of postcards from there.

Next time we are goiing to Stingray City, it is supposed to be great.
We rented some snorkle equipment and an underwater camera and went swimming just off to the right of the pier about 4-500 meters to a public access in front of a small drinking establishment. It is quite rocky and some of the barnacles on the rocks will break off in your skin if you are not careful. Get them out as soon as you can as they will hurt like the dickens. Wear some form of footware if possible.

Both places are great and we can't wait to go back. One and a half years to go. It dosen't seem to bad if you say it fast.

Haveagreatone.

Peter

My daughter and I went on the Grand Cayman Stingray City tour a few days before Thanksgiving. A boat takes you out to a sandbar where the water is from around 2 to 5 feet deep. The stingrays like to rub up against you as they swim by. Both of us found it interesting. We paid $33 each from Carnival. Independently, I think, you can get the tour for approx. $25 from tour operators at the pier.

I agree with everybody else's ideas. Since you have a big group if you find tours too costly, you can do what we do with our family. We rent a car or mini van at each place. Grand Cayman you can go to seven mile beach, it's great, you can drive to hell and be a real tourist and buy all the cheesey hell souvinors, there are a real lot of nice houses to see, you can try www.coconutcareantals.com and rent online. You just have to remember to drive on the left. Cozumel we rented a car to go to the beach, there is not that much to see but it's fun to go exploring, my kids take spanish in school so they read the road signs to me, LOL

just got back on Dec 9th, third time Western Carib. In Cozumel you have alot of time there so we go on a snorkling trip. this time, with our 15 & 18 year olds, we did the Sail,Snorkle& beach party. It was a blast.
At Grand Cayman we signed up for Stingray City Snorkle, but it was canceled due to high winds. So on the island we took a trip to Hell and the Turtle Farm from the locals on shore for $15. It was still a good time. We had been there before (Stingray City & the Turtle Farm) without our kids and we really wanted to go to Stingray City with them, It is really unique.
We saw the Costa Atlantica in Ocho Rios,It looked like a beautiful ship. Have a great trip.
