We did it last year from the Voyager..our trip included sea kayaking and Dunn's River Falls. First we took a bus to Dunn's River Falls, climbed the falls, and then walked back down to the beach where the kayaks were waiting. We kayaked along the shore and stopped in two neat places for refreshments (fruit and juice, I think it was). Our tour guides led some Jamaican singing and dancing, which was entertaining! Then we hopped back in the kayaks and went a little further, where we got to "surf" into shore! VERY FUN! The guides show you how to catch a wave and ride it all the way into the shore.

Only problem was, our kayak got hit by another kayak who didn't wait for us to reach the shore before they surfed in. They crashed into us, and knocked our kayak over. The shore was pretty rocky, and I hurt my knee! Make sure you have sturdy shoes on, too! I had taken my shoes off, and when we got knocked over, I lost my shoes. I was bleeding from being cut on the rocks and had a really hard time walking on the jagged rocks with no shoes and a hurt knee, so one of our guides came out and put me over his shoulder and carried me to shore! Needless to say, he got a good tip!!!!! (Speaking of tips, your tour guides will EXPECT a tip. They do a really good job and deserve it.)

I don't remember how much it was. (You can actually see all the excursions with detailed information and their price on www.cruisenewsdaily.com.)

I highly recommend it. It is pretty strenuous, so someone who is not physically fit or just wants a leisurely ride won't enjoy this. We actually had a guy on the trip start having chest pains, so a rescue boat had to come and get him. He was extremely overweight and probably shouldn't have chosen this excursion!

Have fun! Let me know if you have any questions.

Laura; Do remember the name of the tour Co.? We like to book our own shore trips when possible. We have looked on the Jamaica web page and can't find a name or #. Thank you for your response and info.
Kevin

No, I don't remember who the actual tour operator was. (It was booked thru the ship.)

Yes, the kayaks were 2-seaters.

I do remember who our bus driver was, tho, because he had a red stripe on his front windshield. He's the guy who drove us to Dunn's River Falls and picked us up after the kayaking to take us back to the pier. After we got back to the ship, he waited for us while we showered and ate lunch, and then he took us and 3 other couples on a short tour of the island. He was really, really great. We liked him alot! I don't remember his name, but I remember his van had a red stripe across the top of his front windshield. (He's the only one with that, he said, which is an easy way to find him.)
