We are stopping in Alexandira for a 1-day trip to the Cairo museum/pyramids and want to tour privately. Any suggestions?

There's an Egyptian Tourist Authority in Montreal, PQ. - most probably in other places too - may be of help.

Sorry, but I can't help.

I can tell you that I did a land tour a few years ago, which included Cairo - it was wonderfull! You've not seen historic monuments until you have visited Egypt!

Be aware!

I think, the safest traffic from Alexandria to Cairo is the excursion bus.

With private guides you risk an uncomfortable ride to Cairo. The private drivers as well as taxi drivers are often
"hell drivers".

Werner is right, they are 'mad' drivers, by western standards.

They don't tend to have things like white lines and street lamps, let alone good roads! However, they seem to generally avoid crashing into each other.;-)

I took taxi's a number of times in Cairo, it sure was an exciting city and ride!
