My mommy wants to take a cruise to Alaska.
1. What ship do you reccommend?
ALASKA CRUISES

-Carnival Cruise Line-
ms Carnival Spirit

Holland-America Line
ms Ryndam
ms Statendam
ms Veendam
ms Volendam
ms Zaandam

- Royal Carribean International
mv Radiance of the Seas
mv Rhapsody of the Seas
mv Vision of the Seas

Celebrity Cruise Line-
ms Infinity
mv Mercury
ms Summit

- Penninsular and Orient

P & O Princess-
mv Dawn Princess II
mv Sea Princess
mv Star Princess II
mv Sun Princess

- Star Cruises

Norwegian Cruise Line
ms Norwegian Sky
ms Norwegian Sun
ms Norwegian Wind

I notice some of the really cool cruise ships, like the Cranival Spirit and the Radiance of the Seas cruise here. I left out the Ocean Princess because it will be transferred to Penninsular and Orient (P & O) sometime.

2. What ports or activities do you reccommend?

That is all, thank you!

Jesse C

Jesse,

I assume you are going next year.

Most of the itineraries are the same whether Inside Passage or Anchorage to Vancouver. I think it depends on which cruise line will suit you best.

I have been on the wildlife excursion at Juneau where we spotted hump backs feeding and at Skagway did the rail trip.

Whatever you do I am sure you will enjoy it.

Jesse, as an option, why not ask your mom if she might get you onto a starship instead.

I believe that to you it would only seem like less than a year. For the rest of us it would be over a hundred years. I am sure that our ancestors would be delighted to read your cruise report.

Come to think of it, they may make us all immortal, Heaven forbid.

Jesse C: Regardless of the ship you choose, ports and activities are incidental.......an Alaska cruise is an ecological experience. Holland America Line, as an example, has Naturalists on board, ready to point out and explain the wonders of the trip. Seeing glaciers calve, whales surfacing, eagles etc. etc. is a wonderful experience.

I would suggest that anyone with the time (and money) add a land tour to include Fairbanks, Dawson City and the Yukon - you get a true feel for the hardships people endured to open up the region.

An Alaska cruise is much more than entertainment and time passing activities.
