According to an article in the Anchorage newspaper recently, the City of Juneau expects 700,000 +passengers and 39 cruise ships that will dock in Juneau.
Passengers can expect cruise ship traffic jams and some ships having to anchor in the harbour. This will require tender trips to shore, as docking space is rather limited in many of the Alaska ports.
I have experienced overcrowding in Alaska, myself. My question is:
“Are we spoiling many ports of call around the world by allowing too many ships?”
Have you experienced overcrowded ports? Any comments?

Yes, we are most certainly overcrowding ports. When I was in Alaska four years ago, it was certainly overcrowded, and there has been massive growth since then... I sometimes think I should go back again to have one last look before it is entirely and completely ruined...
Happy Cruising,CruiseNY
I think some of those ships should stay in the Caribbean during the summer. There are very few ships that sail the southern Caribbean in the summer. The Caribbean is big enough and diverse enough to handle it. Plus summer cruisers like myself would like some diversity instead of constantly going to St. Thomas all the time ( don't get me wrong - I love St. Thomas)
