I am sure many on CT have visited Hamburg before, but I have not been since a child a loong time ago

2 weeks ago I had one night there - not enough but did view as much as possible in the time.

CAP SAN DIEGO is a MUST! For a mere 7:50 euro [plus 50cents for the leaflet] you can spend hours aboard. In fact as it gets dark early this time of year, by the time we emerged on deck the sun was setting and we never did make it to the stern. All the engine room can be explored, right down the shaft tunnel too. There is also a cafe for something to eat and drink.

Thanks for all these pictures - being on the bridge during that sunset must have been spectacular.

Absolutely! And she is still a fully operational vessel undertaking occasional short cruises - definitely the ideal way of preserving a ship.

I've visited her in 1996, a fantastic event - so sorry the same could not be done with the Charlesville...

Beautiful images of a gorgeous ship! Gone are the days when exterior design was still important-even on cargo vessels.
