Hello Everybody,

I will be taking my first cruise aboard Caribbean Princess from May 21-28...going to Ocho Rios, Cozumel and Georgetown. I have the following questions:
1. Any excursions that you recommended?
2. Did anybody take alcohol with them on the cruise?
3. Since I am vegetarian, do you know if they take special requests? Any experiences?
4. Any experience with Personal Choice dining?

First off, for this itinerary, do not book any ship tours...arrange your own either at the island or ahead of time via the internet....
Ocho Rios - when you get off the ship, find a "taxi" driver and negotiate a deal with him for a tour...make sure you go to Dunns River Falls...when you get to Dunn's, make sure you have your taxi guy take you in and then you can arrange a private tour up the falls and not have to go in a line of 200 cruise passengers...believe me, you'll thank me later.
Grand Cayman - book a tour of the Stingray City through the internet...it's a lot cheaper. The tour guide will be there at the pier waiting for you..you'll have plenty of time to do this. If Stingray's aren't your fancy, then I would recommend going to the bus terminal and getting a cheap tour of the island that goes to the turtle farm, Hell, and the beach...it's a lot cheaper than the ship. If that doesn't work, take the bus to any part of 7 mile beach..it'll cost you $ 6 USD each way, worth the trip.
Cozumel - lots of good beaches here....take a taxi to either Playa Azul or Mister Sanchez beach... if you are adventuresome, rent a jeep for $ 75 and drive around the island (you can't get lost, it's one road) or rent scooters.... Make sure you stop and have a few at Carlos N Charlies by mid-late afternoon....

Alcohol - pack it in your luggage wrapped in ziplock bags...although they scan your luggage now, they will not open it for a bottle of liquor. Otherwise, while on board, make friends with the security people..then bring a bottle back from shore and make small talk with the security as you get back on..they'll let it pass.

Personal Choice has it's pluses and minuses...sometimes I like it cause I can eat when I want, other times I miss the full "dining room" experience of having a waiter get to know your table and you knowing your tablemates... On this itinerary, you leave port early everyday, so I'd go with regular dining....now you have first or second seating to think about....
