Aprill 11/2207 Greece and islands etc. What do you think about going on a maiden cruise...good or bad? Can you get a good deal? general suggestions please. TIA

Maiden cruises can be great fun but you might experince problems with food and service for the first few days due to a new crew. However, this sometimes happens on established ships!

Maiden cruises can be overpriced or on 'on special offer'. You need to check the deals available. Very occasionally maiden cruises have been cancelled due to the ship not being ready, but this is vey rare. On other occasions the ship has sailed but it's still not quite finished.

Personally I would go (and have done in the past) if the price is right. The risks are pretty small, in my opinion.

I have to agree w/ what Malcom said...if you go on the FIRST cruise expecting perfection - you might be very disappointed...I always suggest that people wait for a sailing within a month or two of the inaugural so that all the kinks are worked out (unless of course it is a unique itinerary that you REALLY want).

The plus side is that if you ARE flexible w/ your travel plans - I would say go for it because when these sailings ARE cancelled due to the ship being delayed - you usually come out w/ an exceptional compensation package. It can be a win situation over all for you.

We sailed on Arcadia 2 months after launch... they were still ironing out a few kinks.

We have booked Emerald Princess for March 2008... hopefully a year will be long enough to get things spot on, but the ship will still look and feel new.

Be nice to get the little celebratory souvenirs from a maiden cruise.....
