It's obviously aboard the NORWEGIAN DREAM--I wonder why the website does not mention her by name?

"The luxurious Cruise ship, is one of the campest ships in the fleet".

Yes, she looks like the 'Norwegian Dream' to me? So that's what 'Freestyle' really means?

Some of the FAQ's are funny:See Here

The Advert-movie is very rude indeed:

See it Here

They make a joke about not being ATOL bonded when it doesn't apply anyway, but it seems neither are they ABTA members.

Wasn't it P&O Aus who were recently reprimanded in court for their 'Seamen Wanted' adverts.

Yes. And the tenor of the movie seems to be inconsistent with the softer trend in advertising similar ventures in the US. I wonder if this might backfire on them?

I also wonder about the tactfulness of explicitly describing the movie as a "viral" ad. In marketing speak, that's correct. But it might strike a few raw nerves amongst their market, I would have thought.

I'm only guessing, but I assume it had something to do where P&O displayed it. It probably broke some UK 'advertising standards' regulations?

The 'Big Cruise' movie is only a wed site rather than on general public display. It's the kind of thing we might get here in the UK on one of our more 'radical' TV Comedy sketch shows. No one would bat an eyelid. (Look at the stuff on ‘Little Britain’).

It was actually in Oz. It came to attention during the recent Diane Brimble hearings, and P&O Oz ended up promising not to run such provocative ads again.

I think you're right about the audience, though. The Big Cruise website specifically describes this ad as "viral", which suggests that there will be no mainstream release for it. I think that the ASA here would have quite a lot to say about it if this were publicly released. Better that it entertain and amuse people privately when the link or the "small" video arrives in their email inbox.

I am still wondering about the wisdom of the ad and the message it sends to the intended market. I can imagine quite a lot of potential customers actually being put off by what's being pushed, my hairdresser amongst them.

I stand corrected!

I have the feeling that it 'may' be in keeping with British humor aimed at younger people, but then I'm not gay.

What do other CT members think? Is it funny or tasteless? Would it put gay customers off?

(The prices look very good at first glance, but I think port tax is an add-on, which is a bit naughty.)

The advert seems to reinforce the stereotypes of gay cruising, but I think its intended gay audience will "get it" and see that it's almost a parody. The Q&A section answers some doubts and fears--of course on a gay cruise there is a lot of 'shocking' behaviour, but it's not as rampant as many people may believe.

Love the choir singing.

quote:
Do I have to be gay to go on "The Big Cruise"?
All guests are required to sing a selection of show-tunes and perform a Kylie dance routine before boarding the ship.... no of course you don't have to be gay to join us! However we ask all guests to remember that this is a "gay theme" cruise and respect the majority.

Pied Piper and Aquafest have heteros on their charters. Usually they are friends or family of the benders on board.

Maybe rename the ship: Norwegian Queer

The two lower beds in all cabins can be arranged to form a queen-sized bed

So that's a cabin for just the one Queen ?

by looking at the movie advert.....i would expect that it's gonna be a 3 day sex fest and i'm sure NCL (if it is the line of choice) will be all over that (joke).....terrific.....more cement added to the stereotyping of gay men........jeff

Here is a lesbian cruise from Ireland

A new move which sees a leading travel agent teaming up with Ireland’s not-for-profit Gay Community News in a fundraising capacity....

Just a reminder that posting advertisements for travel agencies (...gay or not) is prohibited on this board and they will be removed.

It is just a travel company selling Olivia's packages. They even use the same webpages for the information. It is not a cruise from Ireland.
